How did you decide to choose this work for the staff show?
Mystique was created the way it should be experienced: not as a canvas but as a catalyst for a meditative, peaceful state and a portal through which one can enter, escape, and rediscover on many levels. The interaction of observer with work of art is key, and the dreamscape allows for ease and reflection.
I understand the feelings expressed by Ms. Epstein – the feelings she opens up with her painting. It is lovely.
Real cool, as the kids say. I haven’t yet reached a meditative or peaceful state, but with the help of Ms. Epstein’s dreamscape, I’ll keep trying. Wish the Phillips had room for more of her work.
I really love this piece – from the title to how it puts me in a relaxed mind set. It makes me feel like I am in the mountains, looking over the water with a beautiful blue-green sky. Thanks for sharing this with the world!
Esther’s work usually transports me to a dreamscape of cool breezes, soft ocean waves, and heavenly vistas. I often feel like she has depicted the sunrise where everything is bright, fresh, dawning and new. The way that Esther boils down a scene to its essentials without removing the dynamics and intrigue deeply impresses me. With life’s fast pace of today, people do not have time for extraneous and unessential things. I think she does a fantastic job of concentrating a breathtaking view to its essence. I would love to see more of Esther’s meditative work showcased at the Phillips!!!
