On May 14 and 16 we wrapped up another successful year of the Art Links to Learning: Museum-in-Residence program with two artists’ receptions for 350 students from Tyler Elementary School and Takoma Education Campus. Students enjoyed seeing their work in the current Young Artists Exhibition and venturing out into the galleries before school’s out for summer!

Putting Their Own Spin on the Classics

Last week preschool and kindergarten students from Tyler Elementary School took cues from the masters. In the art workshop, preschoolers experimented with different tools to make abstract expressionist paintings, just like Jackson Pollock. Later in the day kindergarteners drew their own versions of Arthur Dove’s Cows in Pasture (1935) and Georgia O’Keeffe’s Red Hills, Lake George (1927).
