Lucian Freud, distinguished and prolific British figurative painter, died Wednesday night in London. We were lucky enough to have Freud included in our exhibition Paint Made Flesh in 2009. His large and characteristically fleshy painting of his frequent model Leigh Bowery, Naked Man, Back View stripped this larger-than-life character of his outlandish fashions and painted face, leaving him anonymous (“Man”), aggressively naked and human.
